Fragments from Yoshiki’s Interview for VOGUE magazine Part VIII
[ Translation courtesy of @Mikaxxxxxxxxx Thank you so much for sharing! ]

Interviewer: Will you even need a little bit of pain?

Yoshiki: We can be spoiled if we don't experience any pains, I think.
(laughs) When accomplishing something, it lacks a sense of
accomplishment if everything goes smoothly. Because it was hard,
I could feel a sense of accomplishment.
Take the Golden Globes as an example, I had a very hard time with
a lot of things. Usually when I compose a song, I only write a music
score and I do recording on my own afterward from the score. I don't
know how many hundreds of pages of the music score I wrote.
But when I went to the venue and heard my song being played,
I was touched.

I: But you usually don't show your suffering much, do you?

Y: In many cases I guess I don't show much of pain.
But I think those feelings are naturally expressed in my melody.

I: I saw you having a previous meeting on various matters while you were
looking at a music sheet and getting your hair and makeup done.
(Partially omitting as she was just thanking him for the interview, and
talking about how freely the photo session was done.)

Y: I personally do also like others working on me (including a makeover,
etc.) under their production. Otherwise I cannot extend myself. It is so
important to listen to other people's opinions. For example, when I
compose music for a film, I am not the lead person. So I listen to the
film director's opinion. That was the case for the Golden Globes as well.
I don't dislike receiving many different opinions from others. [ × ]
